It has been said that the Rodeo Secretary is the hardest working person in rodeo that you will hardly ever see! Never a truer statement made. The ultimate multi-tasker, the Rodeo Secretary is responsible for a myriad of duties before, during, and after a rodeo.
The Rodeo Secretary is the main point of contact for all official information and is responsible for many administrative duties that include, but are not limited to:
Taking entry fees, compiling reports from judges and timers regarding official times and animals competed on by the contestants. She provides contestant information to the announcer(s), judges, stock contractors, rodeo committee, and the media. She types Daysheets and ensures information is emailed to media/and social media contacts. When the rodeo is completed, she balances the books and ensures that contestants receive their winnings, then sends the completed "Judges Sheets" to the PRCA Office which enables the results to be added into the World Standings.
Now that you know her duties, we are pleased to introduce your Rodeo Secretary for the 2012 RAM PRCA California Circuit Finals Secretary - Sherry Rice-Gibson.
Sherry has been a Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) Accredited Timer and Rodeo Secretary for more than 25 years.
Sherry's reputation is above reproach. Through her dedication to the sport of rodeo, her knowledge and her professionalism, she has earned the respect of her peers, colleagues, rodeo committees, and contestants alike.
Sherry has worked rodeos from large to small including the Dodge National Circuit Finals two times; California Circuit Finals - 10 times; Wilderness Circuit Finals - 1 time; Turquoise Circuit Finals – 1 time. She has also worked in Reno, Nevada; St. Paul, Oregon; Pendleton, Oregon; Denver, Colorado; and Tucson, Arizona, along with many California Rodeos. She has worked the RAM National Circuit Finals the last 2 years as a Timer and as the Assistant Secretary. In 2013, she will be the Rodeo Secretary at the prestigious Ram National Circuit Finals Rodeo which is held in Oklahoma City, OK.
For more than thirty years, Sherry has been a horseback riding instructor in general horsemanship, as well as in barrel racing and Polo. She is a former rodeo contestant in Team Roping and Barrel Racing. When not on the "Rodeo Trail" with her husband, Brent, she enjoys playing polo, spending time with their 5 horses and hanging out at their home in Poway, CA.
We are very honored to have Sherry as our Rodeo Secretary!
