It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness, that we share that we have lost a treasured member of our Showdown Rodeo Family - Ms. Susan Grantham. An incredible woman, mother, grandmother, businesswoman, horsewoman, rodeo lover - A "fiesty" woman who loved and embraced life - The one lovingly known to many as "The Firey Redhead", Susan has been taken from us way too soon. Unable to comprehend this loss, we extend our deepest condolences to her family and her friends, and ask that our rodeo family and our Antelope Valley communities, join us in wrapping them in your thoughts and prayers.
Susan Grantham
Remembered 11/18/47 - 12/15/2014
Always active in her community, Susan was one of the original "Big Five" Showdown Rodeo Committee members for twenty plus years and she was one of the most dedicated people to the sport of Professional Rodeo and she was invaluable to the PRCA and PBR events sponsored and produced by the Showdown Rodeo, Inc.
Susan knew the importance of our Sponsors and she took great pride in preparing an extra-special VIP area for them. Through her creativity and persistence, Susan created a VIP area which not only welcomed each one of our sponsors and their families, but it also ensured each and every one knew they were special and how much they were appreciated. Just when you thought it could not get any better, Susan found a way to out-do herself and we were always in awe! Never resting on her laurels, she was always looking forward to the future and ways to improve. In our last rodeo meeting, Susan was already presenting exciting new ideas for next year's PBR and Circuit Finals Rodeo and in her honor, we will do our very best to carry out her visions.
Susan was very involved in our community, not only volunteering for the Showdown Rodeo Inc., but she was also steadfastly involved with many charity events. Susan always jumped in with both "boots", and with no hesitation, in order to raise monies for worthy and relevant causes. A businesswoman, she was also very active with Real Estate and we know her real estate family is also feeling a deep loss.
To say Susan's presence will be missed is an understatement. She will be missed by all who loved and cherished her, and will even be missed by those she "irritated" (we all know she would not take "NO" for an answer), because once you met Susan, you could not help but love her.
As we say goodbye to Susan, we thank her for her many years of friendship, her many years of dedication, enthusiasm, and support. We thank her for the always coming the party armed with her wit, her strength, and her love of life.
Dear Susan, we wish you happy trails to greener pastures.
We hope you enjoy the photos below and remember the vibrant "Fiery Redhead" we all love and will truly miss.
In Loving Memory - Susan Grantham
