"50 Years n Still Buckin' Strong"
Congratulations to the Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association! This year marks their 50 year anniversary!!
Rodeo Fans, friends, families, cowboys and cowgirls (well everyone) are in for a special weekend anniversary celebration at the Tehachapi Event Center and Rodeo Grounds!
PRCA CA Circuit action starts with the first performance of the Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association PRCA Rodeo on Friday, August 16th (gates open at 5pm - Grand Opening Ceremonies at 7pm); the second performance will be Saturday, August 17th (gates open at 4pm - Grand Opening Ceremonies at 6pm).
Please verify all event information with the official Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association Website and be sure to check out and "Like" their Facebook Page.
In May, the Tehachapi City Council approved a $500,000 capital improvement project for the rodeo grounds. Several improvements have already been made in time for the 50th Anniversary which include more bleachers, permanent concession stands and restrooms, as well as new parking and vendor areas and landscaping.
Long-term improvements (within two years) will see the addition of RV hookups, overnight horse stalls, a multi-use riding/hiking/jogging loop trail, a community meeting center, child play area and a grass-covered festival/picnic area.
Saturday's performance is "Tough Enough To Wear Pink" Night. Special Guest Sandy Travis, along with her partner "Shining Hollywood", will perform a very special grand opening (6pm), in hopes of bringing a heightened awareness of breast cancer and the effects/affects this disease has on its victims and their loved ones. (Ride For The Pink Website Facebook).
There will be a dance immediately following the rodeo on Saturday night featuring live music from the Wild Blue Rose Band. There is a $10 cover charge for the dance with all proceeds from the dance will be donated to the Small Miracle Foundation.
The Dust n' Diamonds Equestrian Drill Team (Facebook) will also make a special "Pre-Show" appearance on both Friday and Saturday Nights (before the Grand Openings). The Dust n' Diamonds Equestrian Drill Team hail from Tehachapi, CA.
PRCA Professional Photographers Gene Hyder (website) and Dale Miller (website) will be on hand to capture all of rodeo action and the excitement of this anniversary celebration.
Congratulations to all at the Tehachapi Mountain Rodeo Association on 50 years and here is to many more!
